Congratulations to Grandmaster Anthony Phelan on this promotion to 9th Degree. Grandmaster Phelan is Vice-President of the Republic of Ireland Taekwon-Do Association and is the second most senior Taekwon-Do practitioner in the Republic of Ireland.

 
GM Phelan who is currently in DPR Korean celebrating the 50th anniversary of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, was promoted by President of the ITF Prof Ri Yong Son and the ITF promotions committee. Also attending the celebrations from Ireland are Senior Grandmaster Howard, Master V Keane and Mr Martin Roe.

GM Phelan is a student of FGM Rhee and has been instrumental in the development of Taekwon-Do in Ireland. He introduced the art he loves to Waterford and continues to teach Taekwon-Do in the Ballyfermot/Clondalkin area of Dublin. Over the years he has trained many students to black belt including Senior Master Francis Barrett and Senior Master Brendan O’Toole (INTA).

A date for the next Colour Belt grading has been set for Tuesday 21^st June 8-10pm in the Cabra Parkside Centre, Cabra, Dublin 7 (the Bogies).

You must have your instructors permission to grade, so please ensure you ask before making an official application and paying your grading fee.

For those grading pass your License and grading fee of €25 to your instructor on or before Thursday 16th June 2016.

On the night of the grading, be in the Dojang 15 minutes before the grading starts and make sure your Dobok is washed and ironed.

Tigers & Dragons Summer Grading

Congratulations to all the children on Senior Master Howard’s Tigers and Dragons programmes who were successful at the recent summer grading at St Joseph’s, Navan Road, Dublin 7.

It was a busy day for the children from all around Dublin (Blanchardstown, Cabra, Castleknock, Drumcondra, Finglas, Navan road, Prussia St, Phibsborough) who travelled to our Taekwon-Do school for their big test.

The examiner on the day was Senior Master Howard and was assisted by Mr Wilson, Mr Malone, Mr Brady and Ms McCormack (from Dublin NE). The children really raised their game on the day and SM Howard complimented them (and their parents) for all their obvious preparation for the test. He also encouraged them to keep stretching over the summer holidays now that they have more free time.
